Brooklyn Bedding Signature vs. Casper Overview
Mattresses from the Brooklyn Bedding company are known as the Brooklyn Bedding Signature. Mattresses that combine responsive foam with individually-pocketed coils that are manufactured in the United States are becoming increasingly popular (Soft, Medium, and Firm). We’ll be comparing the Medium model in this comparison.
Zoned Support is unique to the original Casper, an all-foam mattress. zonation makes the mattress firmer towards its center (to provide additional spinal support) and softer near its ends (to alleviate pressure points) (for added pressure relief). We’ve put together a quick review of these beds to help you decide which one is right for you.
Who Should Get the Brooklyn Bedding Signature?
- For those looking for a wide range of firmness options.
- The hot sleepers who require a cooling mattress
- Those that are wanting to cut back on their spending
Sizing Options
The comfort, quality of sleep, and how well the mattress fits in your space are all affected by the weight and size of the mattress.
However, even though they are more difficult to transport and set up, heavier mattresses frequently provide a more secure sleeping experience due to the fact that they don’t tend to move as much as you move around on them. However, lighter mattresses may not feel as well-anchored to the base as heavier models.
As a result of their thicker leyers, thicker mattresses often provide additional support for heavier sleepers. But low-profile models are usually less expensive than their high-profile counterparts. The ease with which you can get into and out of bed may also be influenced by your profile. Shorter people may find it difficult to get into a high-profile mattress on a tall frame. Some folks may struggle just as much with a low-profile mattress and a short frame.
The size of the mattress affects how well it fits into your room and the foundation it needs. It can also have an impact on the quality of sleep, particularly for couples. Couples typically choose queen, king, or California king sizes since they have more room to move around and don’t feel as much motion transfer when sleeping together.

Both firms’ mattresses are available in the same height options. There are 10 inch thin choices available. All three Brooklyn Aurora, Spartan, and Bloom mattresses are slightly thicker than Casper’s 13-inch Wave Hybrid. Customers who prefer a higher-profile model may like Brooklyn Bedding’s alternatives because they are slightly thicker.
Casper Element, the lightest mattress from either brand, is a good option for those looking for a lighter mattress. There is a heavier mattress available from both companies, the Brooklyn Bloom, which is the heaviest of the two.
There are six typical mattress sizes available from Brooklyn Bedding, Casper, and Serta. Brooklyn Bedding also offers custom sizing options for its customers.
Construction and Materials Comparison
The most prevalent materials found in mattresses are usually found in some combination in a mattress. In addition to coils and latex foam, there are various more options available. Each substance has its own advantages and disadvantages that can effect your sleep. Choosing the finest mattress for you may be easier if you know what materials to look for.
Memory foam and polyfoam are the two most common forms of foam. Most other materials respond more quickly to changes in pressure, although memory foam tends to be slower in responding to these changes. Memory foam can also retain heat, however many mattress models now come equipped with cooling mechanisms to help combat this.
There are certain advantages to polyfoam over memory foam in terms of breathability, but it doesn’t have the same ‘hugging’ sensation as memory foam. Low-density polyfoam, on the other hand, is more prone to decomposition.
Latex is used in the manufacture of several mattresses, either synthetic or natural. Although it is a foam, this substance is distinct from memory foam and polyfoam because of its distinct properties. Durability and breathability are two of latex’s strongest attributes. Additionally, it has a more buoyant sensation than most other foams. It acts in the same way as other foams, reducing pressure. It lacks, though, the same hug. In the minds of many, sleeping “on” rather than “in” a latex mattress is the preferred experience.
In both innerspring and hybrid types, coil support mechanisms are used to maintain tension in the coils. It is possible that coils can contribute to noise and motion transfer, however this is not always the case. Coils of superior quality can last a long time.
Brooklyn Bedding
In Brooklyn Bedding’s lineup, five of the six most popular mattresses are hybrids. In order to create a distinctive sleep experience, each model has a specific construction.
The Brooklyn Signature
As a result, the Signature is designed to be both luxurious and affordable. It begins with a quilted cover that serves as a layer of cushioning. Polyfoam-like polyurethane foam is then molded to fit the shape of the body and adapt swiftly to changes in movement. Gel is infused into this layer in order to help the sleeper’s body cool down.
For deep compression support and a barrier between the comfort and support systems, an Energex polyfoam transition layer is used. Pocketed coils in the support core provide bounce and breathability while preventing motion transfer. The coil system is supported by a final 1-inch layer of polyfoam.
The Brooklyn Aurora
Among the Aurora’s features is a high-tech cooling system. In order to keep the sleeper’s skin temperature at 88 degrees, it contains a woven cover that incorporates phase-change material. Copper and phase-change material are infused into a 1.5-inch layer of proprietary polyfoam to wick heat away from the body and keep the sleep surface at a consistent temperature. Two inches of latex-like polyfoam form the second layer of comfort. Upon removal of pressure, this layer quickly returns to its original shape.
Memory foam conforms more deeply with a 1-inch transition layer. Additional cooling is provided through a gel infusion. To ensure proper support for your torso and hips while also providing soft cradling for lighter portions of the body, the core is made up of 8-inch coils that are separated into zones. In addition to providing the bed with a springy feel, this support system allows for a large amount of airflow. To reduce motion transfer, each coil is individually enclosed. Polyfoam serves as a foundation for the coils.
The Brooklyn Spartan
Luxurious hybrid model with cutting-edge cooling technology: Aurora. To keep the sleeper’s skin temperature at 88 degrees, it uses a phase-change polymer in the cover of the mattress Copper and phase-change material are infused into a 1.5-inch layer of proprietary polyfoam to wick heat away from the body and keep the sleep surface at a consistent temperature. For additional support, the mattress has two inches of polyfoam that feels like latex. Upon removing pressure, this layer quickly returns to its original shape.
Memory foam shapes more deeply when a 1-inch transition layer is added. Additional cooling is provided through a gel infusion. These coils are separated into zones to guarantee proper support for your torso and hips, as well as gentler cradling for the lighter areas. This technique provides a springy feel to the mattress, as well as a large amount of airflow. Coils are individually enclosed to reduce the transfer of motion. The coils rest on a 1-inch piece of polyfoam that serves as a base.
The Brooklyn Bloom
Natural materials were used to create the Bloom, a latex hybrid. Joma wool and organic cotton make up the 1.25-inch plush top cover, which allows air to circulate through the mattress and removes excess heat and moisture. The buoyant, responsive feel of the 3-inch Talalay latex comfort layer alleviates pressure points created by a sleeper’s body weight compression. In addition to increasing the bed’s breathability and pressure reduction, this latex also provides additional comfort.
The mattress’s core is made up of 8-inch pocketed coils, which adds springiness and airflow. This layer also lowers motion transfer because the coils are able to move on their own accord. Polyfoam designed to sustain the bed’s coils makes up the final layer.
The Brooklyn Bowery
Brooklyn Bedding’s all-foam choice is the Bowery. Foam is wrapped in a woven cover with three layers of foam. A three-inch layer of Energex polyfoam covers the surface, and it’s designed to mimic memory foam’s conforming capabilities while also providing a more responsive sensation than latex does. This polyfoam transition layer is then sandwiched between the soft comfort layer and the rigid core. Five inches of polyfoam are used in the mattress’s core to strengthen the mattress’s surface.
The Brooklyn Bowery Hybrid

The Bowery Hybrid is the cheapest hybrid model from the firm. In order to keep the sleeper cool, it has a quilted top with gel memory foam that is one inch thick. The coil core is protected by a 2-inch polyfoam transition layer, which acts as a barrier. Bouncy and breathable, the 6-inch pocketed coil core minimizes motion transmission. A 1-inch polyfoam foundation supports these coils.
Casper
There are two foam-only variants and two hybrids in the Casper lineup.
The Casper Mattress and the Casper Hybrid
The Casper and Casper Hybrid mattresses have a lot in common, other from their support layers.
Covers for both mattresses are made of recycled polyester, polyester and upcycled cotton, as well as rayon and lycra. Polyfoam that adapts to the body while allowing heat to escape is used in their upper layers, which are 1.5 inches thick. As a final layer of comfort, a 2-inch thick layer of memory foam with three ergonomic zones is designed to help maintain good spinal alignment.
Seven-inch polyfoam core is used to sustain the Casper’s structure. The Casper Hybrid is supported by pocketed coils. These coils add springiness and airflow to the bed, while the coils are encased in pockets to prevent movement transfer. The coil layer is surrounded by a thick layer of firm foam for added edge support.
The Casper Nova Hybrid
Starting with a cover made of recycled and regular polyester, cotton rayon and Lycra spandex blend, the Nova Hybrid is Casper’s latest mattress model. Stretchy and cuddly, it’s a great fit.
Additionally, the mattress has two layers of AirScape open-cell polyfoam for additional comfort. In order to provide additional support to your torso, stomach and hips, the second layer of comfort is divided into three firmness zones. The memory foam transitional layer of the bed is further separated into seven zones of firmness for additional support.
The high-density polyfoam-encased pocketed coil support core of the Nova Hybrid measures 7 inches in diameter. The coils assist keep the mattress stable and cool by allowing air to flow through the mattress. Although the Nova Hybrid has a medium-soft feel and some sinkage should still be expected, the foam encasement supports the mattress’ perimeter to prevent undue drooping when you sit or lie along its edges.
The Casper Wave Hybrid
Casper’s most advanced mattress is the Wave Hybrid. Recycled polyester, upcycled cotton, polyester, rayon, and lycra are used to make the cover. Allows air to flow through the mattress while being flexible enough to move with it.
The comfort system consists of three layers of different AirScape foams. 1.25 inches of latex and 1.50 inches each of zoned memory foam and polyfoam are used in the construction of this mattress. To alleviate pressure spots, these AirScape foams cradle the sleeper’s body, while perforations in the material allow heat to escape. The third layer’s ergonomic zoning provides additional support in the centre of the bed to ensure optimal spinal alignment.
Polyfoam is 1.5 inches thick in the transition layer of the Wave Hybrid. The lumbar region is supported by gel pods. The zoning of the third layer of the comfort system is likewise strengthened by this layer. Airflow and springiness are provided by a 7-inch layer of pocketed coils and foam encasement that serves as the support core. An extra layer of edge support is provided by a thick, strong foam border.
The Casper Element
Casper’s Element mattress is the company’s most economical option. Two layers of foam are used in this simple, all-foam design. The bed’s contouring and pressure relief are provided by a three-inch AirScape polyfoam comfort layer. Perforations allow heat to escape from the sleeper’s body, reducing the risk of overheating. Sagging is prevented by the 6.5-inch polyfoam core. The mattress is encased in a cover made of recycled polyester, polyester, upcycled cotton, rayon, and lycra.. To enhance the mattress’s cooling and pressure-relieving properties, this material is permeable and elastic.
In-Depth Ratings
As you shop for a mattress, there are a number of crucial characteristics and features to keep in mind. Mattress comfort, sleep quality, and more may be affected by these factors. We recommend focusing on these qualities and features when deciding on a mattress, as they are likely to be more important to you than others.
- The materials and construction of a mattress have a direct impact on the mattress’s longevity. Mattresses that aren’t as long-lasting tend to cost less. Although high-quality mattresses may be more cost-effective in the long run due to their longer lifespans, they may not always be the best option.
- Couples often place a great value on motion isolation. In a shared bed, the mattress can either transmit or absorb the vibrations caused by one partner’s movement. Couples who frequently wake up throughout the night may benefit from a mattress that effectively isolates motion, especially those who wake up frequently.
- There are several types of mattresses that are more favorable to sex. When it comes to having sex, couples like a springy, responsive mattress. While couples may prefer some conforming for traction, a mattress with a lot of hug and little bounce may restrict movement and cause couples to feel confined in the bed.
- The ability to regulate the temperature of a mattress is a consideration for those who sleep hot at night. Some mattresses have unique features that help to circulate air and keep the sleep surface cool, while others may trap heat against the body of the sleeper. Many mattresses that employ memory foam have extra elements to help reduce the mattress’s tendency to retain heat.
- To alleviate pressure spots, some portions of the body exert additional stress on the mattress. If a mattress is well-contoured, the weight of a person’s body is distributed more evenly, reducing pressure accumulation in the hips and shoulders. For those who suffer from aches and pains, strong pressure alleviation may be very important.
- Off-gassing: As soon as a mattress is unpacked, it generates an odor known as off-gassing. As the mattress decompresses in your house, the manufacturing odors that were trapped inside may be released. The production process for synthetic foam emits more scents than that of other materials. Many individuals find the scent of new mattresses to be pleasant, but others who are sensitive to the smell may prefer a mattress that is less likely to emit off-gassing.
- A mattress that is easy to move on may be preferable if you regularly change positions at night or if you have a condition that restricts your mobility. Mattresses with a lot of hug or sinkage may impede movement for some people. Memory foam, for example, has a tendency to be slow to respond to changes in pressure. In order to move positions on a slow-responding mattress, some sleepers may feel the urge to break free of their own body image.
- Support for Edge is available here. The useable surface of a mattress can be increased by allowing sleepers to lie close to the edge of the bed. Sleepers may seek safety in the middle of the bed if the edge of the mattress feels shaky. Many couples, those who want to sleep towards the edge of the bed, and those who spend a lot of time on the edge of the bed can benefit from a mattress with good edge support..

In-Depth Pricing
A broad variety of mattress options are available, ranging from a few hundred dollars to more than $3,000. You can get the finest night’s sleep possible if you buy the correct mattress, which is a significant financial commitment. However, the price of the mattress may be a deciding factor in your purchase.
Materials are usually the biggest factor in mattress pricing. As a result, the expense of these materials is passed on to customers. For instance, natural latex is usually more expensive than synthetic foam. In addition, because of the high cost of research and development, mattresses made using cutting-edge materials often have a higher sticker price. Customers can expect to pay more for thicker mattresses and larger mattress sizes because they employ more materials.
The cost of a mattress can also be affected by where it is made. Because of the higher cost of labor in the United States, mattresses created in this country tend to be more expensive.
However, there are some noteworthy disparities in pricing between the Brooklyn Bedding and Casper mattresses.

In order to determine whether or not a given mattress will work well for your chosen sleeping position and other demands, it is important to consider the following elements. Let’s begin this comparison by examining the hardness and feel of both the Brooklyn Bedding Signature and the original all-foam Casper mattress.
How Firm Are the Brooklyn Bedding and Casper Mattresses?
Brooklyn Bedding Signature’s Medium model received a firmness rating of roughly 6.5/10. According to industry standards, the Brooklyn Bedding Signature is somewhere between medium-firm and firm. The Casper, on the other hand, received a 7/10, or somewhat firmer-than-average rating.

Sleeping on the Brooklyn Bedding and Casper Mattresses
We slept on both mattresses at some point. To see how we felt in each sleeping position, please continue reading.
Brooklyn Bedding Signature
On the Signature mattress, we found a good mix between comfort and support. We were able to relieve some of the pressure on our hips and back.
While side sleeping on the Brooklyn Bedding Signature, we experienced no discomfort whatsoever. Our hip and shoulder didn’t feel swollen or congested.
When we slept on our stomachs, we found this mattress to be supportive overall. However, heavier sleepers may necessitate further assistance.
Casper
We had a wonderful night’s sleep on the Casper. Despite the fact that our hips dropped a little bit, we still felt that we were receiving adequate spinal support. We really appreciated the Casper’s zoning, which provided excellent lumbar support. Honestly, it’s one of the best back-sleepers’ mattresses out there.
We had a good night’s sleep while side sleeping on the Casper, but it wasn’t wonderful. People who sleep in this posture for a long period of time may endure discomfort in their shoulders and hips. The less weight you have the better you will be able to deal with the pressure.
We were able to sleep comfortably on our stomachs thanks to the Casper’s good back support. If you’re a stomach sleeper, you may want to look for a mattress that’s a little more firm.
What Do the Brooklyn Bedding and Casper Mattresses Feel Like?
Innerspring comfort is provided by the Brooklyn Bedding Signature. While the foam on top provides some body contouring, the springiness of the coils makes it easy to move around on this mattress.
In terms of foam feel, the Casper is really responsive and bouncy. Even though this mattress is made entirely of foam, it is really easy to get in and out of position.
